Little, Brown has formed an ongoing partnership with current affairs journal, Prospect.
The partnership covers non-fiction titles published under the Little, Brown and Abacus imprints with a particular emphasis on its economics and "smart thinking" list, which includes high-profile authors such as Tim Harford and Evan Davis.
The partnership will launch with a series of Prospect & Little, Brown events to be held throughout 2014. The first will be an evening in conversation with Tim Harford, author of The Undercover Economist Strikes Back. Evan Davies and Ed Conway, authors of upcoming bookThe Summit, will participate in the second event in May, with one more to be announced later in the year.
Jonathan Derbyshire, managing editor of Prospect, said: "I am delighted that Prospect will be working with Little, Brown and its authors on a series of events that will examine some of the most pressing questions of the age."
Tim Whiting, non-fiction publishing director for Little, Brown & Abacus called the partnership "very much a meeting of minds". He said: “We are both in the business of showcasing the brightest, most challenging new ideas and we’re delighted to be able to offer audiences intelligent, thought-provoking events from a range of highly respected authors.”
Prospect and Little, Brown will also co-produce a 30-minute podcast, hosted by Prospect managing editor Jonathan Derbyshire. It will consist of exclusive content provided by Little, Brown authors and the Prospect editorial team and will feature on the soon to be relaunchedProspect website and on Little, Brown’s site.
Both the events and the podcasts will be promoted through the print and digital editions of Prospect magazine, as well as via social media and reader newsletters. Additional online content will include downloadable audio recordings of each event and exclusive blog pieces ahead of each event written by Little Brown authors.
