L,B seduced by Duran Duran's John Taylor memoir

Little, Brown and Sphere has bought the autobiography of Duran Duran bassist and founding member John Taylor.

Little, Brown editor in chief Antonia Hodgson bought UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, at auction from Jonathan Conway at Mulcahy Conway Associates. Taylor will co-write the book with journalist and author Tom Sykes and the memoir will be published in hardback in autumn 2012, alongside Penguin US.

Hodgson said: "We're so excited about this project. John Taylor is a warm, witty and engaging writer with an incredible story to tell. His book will be an honest and frank account of his life—good times and bad. It will also capture all the joy and glamour and craziness of being in Duran Duran—surely one of the greatest and best-loved bands of all time."

Taylor said: "This book recounts the million tiny seductions that are required to make the journey from English suburbia to selling out Madison Square Garden - seductions that go by a hundred different names; family, friendship, romances, collaborations and strategic alliances.

"Here is my journey and where it took me; into fantastic success, more than a little decadence, darkness, and finally, I like to think, a little enlightenment."

Speaking as the trade's pre-eminent Duranologist, may I be the first to congratulate Little, Brown on their wonderful acquisition.

So excited about this book! Jon, you're not the trade's only Duranie! JT 'Taylorleaks' hinted at this on Twitter a few weeks back so I've been waiting for this announcement.

OMFG I've been waiting and asking for this one for ages!

This book is so on my wish list from now on! I do want to know his truth about all the things he went through to get to the wonderful, dare I say, balanced person he has become today...

Could be a great movie in this! I hope it does well and that he tells it like it was. Having been a fan for 30 years I can't wait to read it!

John Taylor? Was he the cute one? Should make for a good read, they seemed like decent fellows and the sudden fame did not seem to do as much damage to them as it did to some other groups.

I am so excited by this! I fell in love with John Taylor's writing back in 1988 and have been begging someone to do this. He's eloquent, and engaging, insightful and humorous all at once. I'll be waiting in line to get my copy! Congratulations, John!

Thanks Jon - we're very excited!

Only reading this now via a link a friend sent. Read on DD's website about it yesterday. Have been a fan for over 30 years. Should be a damn good read considering his life experiences thus far. John, we are waiting with baited breath for this!!! Please do a book signing in NYC.

OMFG indeed. I was convinced at the age of twelve that John Taylor was going to marry me. I can't wait.

This going to be a brilliant book. John is a fascinating, glamorous, talented, intelligent and compassionate person. He's lived it all and done it all and somehow came out sane. I hope he writes about his solo career and side ventures, his acting and childhood as well as the obvious glitzy-Duran stuff and the sex, drugs and rock n roll.

he's still the cute one! :)

hopefully amazon will choose this one as their £5 book.

alll the books that come out in autumn will be around 19-20. ALL will be 50% off but they always pick one for a £5. james corden follewed by John Taylor, ooooo im so happy now.

amazing. i didnt even know the guy could write... he kept it sooo quiet. - or maybe he cant, thats why its took 30 years
