Kobo has today (18th June) opened its Kids’ Store, which allows children to browse and buy books, in the UK.
Children using the Kids’ Store can shop for books using an allowance that is pre-paid by their parents. The store also has a “safe-search” feature, rewards in the form of digital stickers, and allows kids to browse for books by age, hit series, popular characters or book type.
The 100,000 titles on the store can be read on Kobo devices or the free Kobo app.
In related news, Kobo is now using a cloud authoring tool from Aquafadas to create digital publications for its Magazine store. Kobo, is using the tool, which converts PDF into a diital format, to digitize magazines from companies such as Condé Nast, Hearst Corporation and Bauer Publishing Group.
Kobo acquired Aquafadas, which is based in Montpellier, France, in 2012.
