Kinsella pens YA novel

Sophie Kinsella, author of the bestselling Shopaholic series, will next year publish her first YA novel with Random House Children’s Publishers (RHCP).

Finding Audrey, described as a mix of “family comedy, romance and personal discovery”, is about a teenage girl recovering from social anxiety. Along the way she is helped, and sometimes hindered, by her chaotic family.

Annie Eaton, fiction publisher at RHCP, acquired the UK and Commonwealth rights from Philippa Milnes-Smith and Araminta Whitley at the LAW literary agency.

Finding Audrey is a joy to read - so funny, so warm and with a real tender heart,” said Eaton. “I have been a Sophie Kinsella fan for ever and am buzzing with excitement at the prospect of publishing her to a younger audience.”

RHCP will publish summer 2015, simultaneously with Random House USA and Doubleday Canada.

Kinsella’s next adult novel, Shopaholic to the Stars, is published by Transworld tomorrow (24th September).
