Trends imprint Studio Press, part of Kings Road Publishing, is collaborating with digital media brand, We the Unicorns, to explore "the magic of YouTubers and the online video community" in a new series of books.
The publishing programme will feature a range of non-fiction books with prices starting at £7.99, targeting young adults who love reading about YouTube and YouTubers. The titles will feature content from the site as well as new features specially created for the books.
We the Unicorns, owned by media and entertainment group, Global, is a website reporting on YouTube news. It also runs features, hosts quizzes and debates and creates its own videos.
Megan Wastell, product director at We the Unicorns, said: “We launched We The Unicorns because there are millions of young people who love reading about YouTube and YouTubers. Our editorial team are all YouTubers themselves and this is why the site connects so well with its audience. The book deal is a fantastic opportunity for us to bring We The Unicorns to more people, in more depth and we hope people love reading the books.”
Gemma Cooper, managing editor at Studio Press, said: “We are incredibly excited by the opportunity to create this range of unique books for YouTube fans. We the Unicorns are at the heart of the YouTube community and their fun, factual content is not only perfect for Studio Press’s list but for the gap in the market for official and knowledgable books about the world of YouTube.”
The first books in the series will publish in July 2017.
