Kindle Fire could hit UK in January
08.12.11 | Bookseller Staff
Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet is reportedly launching in the UK in January.
Know Your Mobile magazine reported a “source close to the launch” had said that Amazon’s new Kindle product - billed as a rival to Apple’s iPad - will reach UK shores in the New Year. The device went on general sale in the US on 15th November.
No information as to price has been revealed, but in the US the Kindle Fire retails at $200 (£127) to the iPad’s $500 (£318).
Analyst Robert Chira of Evercore told the Daily Mail that he expects Apple's iPad to continue to lead the market but predicts the Kindle Fire will take 50% of sales of Android tablets.

I would have thought that launching it in the run up to Christmas would have been a better idea. Traditionally January is a tricky time to launch a new product but let's see how it goes.
