Kapur to direct Amis' London Fields
30.11.11 | Bookseller Staff
"Elizabeth" director Shekhar Kapur is to direct an adaptation of Martin Amis' 1989 novel London Fields for US production outfit Muse Productions.
Film rights for the novel were jointly acquired in 2000 by Tartan Films and Muse Productions, headed by Chris Hanley. Hanley will produce with Jordan Gertner and Mary Vernieu. Tartan has now dropped out of the project.
Kapur told the Hollywood Reporter: "I am looking forward to this project because I have never directed a murder mystery before."
No specific time frame has been given for the film. Kapur is also working on films including "Paani" and a third instalment of his films about Elizabeth I.
Previous directors associated with adaptations of London Fields include David Cronenberg, Michael Winterbottom and David Mackenzie.
