Former Waterstones' non-fiction range buyer John Lewis and school librarian Anna James [pictured] are to join The Bookseller. Lewis joins next week as charts and data analyst; James joins in March as books and media editor working across The Bookseller and We Love This Book.
Lewis, a 10-year veteran of Waterstones, was most recently employed as the chain's non-fiction range trade buying manager. He replaces Philip Stone, who left to join the Penguin Random House data department earlier this month. Lewis joins on 3rd March, reporting to Tom Tivnan, features and insight editor.
James is a school librarian and book blog editor. She runs the A Case For Books blog focusing on reviews and new releases, and the recommendations website Go Book Yourself. She succeeds Stacey Bartlett, who is leaving The Bookseller to take up a role at the Sun on Sunday's Fabulous magazine. James joins officially on 24th March.
Philip Jones, editor of The Bookseller, said: "I'm exceptionally excited to have recruited John and Anna to the team. John has a huge wealth of knowledge about the books sector, and combines data know-how with real-life experience. He'll fit in seamlessly as The Bookseller looks to grow its data-led reporting. Meanwhile, Anna's enthusiasm for books, authors and the publishing sector is manifest in everything she has done at her school library and, of course, on her websites. She is perfectly suited for a role that will see her both curate and champion our books coverage.""
