John Lennon Letters app launched
01.01.70 | Katie Allen
Weidenfeld & Nicolson and Haymarket Network are launching an app of The John Lennon Letters later this month, adding additional content and functionality to the collection of letters by the music star published in hardback in October.
The John Lennon Letters app will be priced £5.99 and available on the Apple store from late November. The app will include the 78 letters selected from Hunter Davis' book The John Lennon Letters, as well as an additional 10 letters exclusive to the app, organised by chronology, recipients, themes and exclusivity.
The app will also include a foreword recorded by Yoko Ono, an animated opening-sequence with illustrations by John Lennon, and an introduction from Davis. It also includes an exclusive cast list of characters featured in the book, gives readers the ability to explore highlighted content in the letters through annotated contextual panels, and access to the transcripts for every letter, plus supporting notes.
It will also include a curated playlist of John Lennon music via iTunes, an audio of Lennon's letters by actor Christopher Eccleston, and the ability to tweet the letters or post them on Facebook from within the app.
