Ten jobs are to be made redundant across Macmillan Children's Books and Kingfisher, as Pan Macmillan looks to reduce its children's list by over a third in 2010.
A consultation process on all affected roles, which include the editorial, production, design and rights teams, was begun today. Pan Macmillan said the move was a result of a challenging UK market with falls in unit sales and average selling prices, as well as a sharp rise in Far East production costs.
The cuts are intended "to strengthen the performance of both divisions in a tough trading environment and to equip them better to exploit future opportunities", it said.
The Kingfisher imprint, acquired by Pan Macmillan in 2007, will also be physically integrated into Pan Macmillan's offices.
