Irish Sports Book of the Year shortlist revealed
28.11.11 | Katie Allen
Titles on rugby, cycling, horse racing and Gaelic games have been shortlisted for this year’s williamhill.com Irish Sports Book of the Year.
Dublin writer Paul Kimmage’s Engage: The Fall and Rise of Matt Hampson (Simon & Schuster), which was also shortlisted for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year after missing out on the longlist, is the only rugby title on the list, with two horse racing titles also in contention: A P McCoy: My Autobiography by A P McCoy and Donn McClean (Orion) and One Hell of a Ride by Paul Carberry (Paperweight Press).
Inside the Peloton by Nicholas Roche (Transworld) about Roche’s professional cycling career is also nominated, with Life, Death and Hurling by Michael Duignan and Armagh GAA player Joe Kernan’s Without a Shadow of a Doubt (both Irish Sports Publishing) completing the list.
The 11 judges on the judging panel will select this year’s winner, with the public forming the 12th judge by voting here.
The williamhill.com Irish Sports Book of the Year was established in 2006 to reward the high standard of Irish sports writing. The winner will be announced next week.
