The Very Nearly Honourable League of Pirates by Caroline Carlson has been sold into four new territories around the world.
Following three auctions and a pre-emptive deal, Rights People on behalf of Greenhouse Literary Agency shas sold the trilogy to Kerle Verlag in Germany, Bayard in France, RBA in Spain and Comphania Das Letras In Brazil.
The trilogy will be published by Simon & Schuster in the UK and HarperCollins US next year.
The series follows Hilary, a girl who escapes the Finishing School for Delicate Ladies in order to set sail with a motley crew including a governess, a budgerigar and a talkative gargoyle on a treasure hunt for the kingdom's lost magic. It is being pitched as "Eva Ibbotson meets Lemony Snicket".
