International Prize for Arabic Fiction longlist

Authors from nine different countries have been longlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction 2013.
The 16 selected writers have been been chosen from 133 entries from countries including Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and Iraq.
Several authors have been nominated before, including Rabee Jaber who won this year’s prize, while 12 are newcomers.
The prize, which will be announced on the eve of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair in April next year, is funded by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority with support from the Booker Prize Foundation. The winner will receive $50,000, while all the shortlisted candidates will receive $10,000.
