A new literary agency will launch next week, aiming to “set trends rather just follow them.”
Shelley Instone, a freelance editor who started her career at the Eve White Literary Agency, will open business for the Shelley Instone Literary Agency on 8th September.
Instone has recruited Louisa Pritchard Associates to represent book rights, Knight Hall Agency to sell film and TV rights and Abby Fenton from HarperCollins will act as a reader assessing promising book titles in her new venture.
Instone said: “My agency will champion debut and established authors. My professional background along with my editorial knowledge and experience means that publishes can expect a steady stream of superb manuscripts edited to an exacting standard. I want to be the type of agent who sets trends rather than just follows them.”
Instone launched her own literary consultancy in 2011 and has since developed debut authors such as Sarah Naughton, Kim Slater, Rupert Wallis, Lara Williamson and Emma Haughton.
