Hutchinson acquires new Goolrick novel

Hutchinson has acquired a new novel by Robert Goolrick.

Sarah Rigby, senior editor, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights excluding Canada from Kendra Poster at Algonquin.

Heading Out to Wonderful is told though the eyes of Sam, a young boy living in the sleepy town of Brownsburg,  Virginia. It is the summer of 1948 when charismatic stranger Charlie Beale returns from war with two suitcases—one containing a set of butcher knives, the other full of money.

Rigby said: "Bestseller Robert Goolrick is an incredible storyteller who makes you feel as though you’re listening to a tale being told at your side. Heading Out to Wonderful comes at you like a punch in the stomach, a story of forbidden love woven by a true master."

According to the publisher, Goolrick's debut A Reliable Wife sold over a million copies.

Hutchinson will publish in trade paperback in April 2013 and Windmill will follow with a  paperback in October 2013.
