Hot Key Books has signed novel The Boy with the Tiger's Heart. Author Linda Coggin is a TV presenter and ex-circus performer.
Editor-at-large Emma Matthewson acquired world rights in The Boy with the Tiger's Heart from agent Suzy Jenvey.
Emma Matthewson said: "Linda Coggin is a breathtaking new voice. The Boy with the Tiger's Heart is a modern day fable, passionately and lyrically told—a story for today and all our tomorrows."
Coggin added: "The Boy with the Tiger's Heart is a story close to my own heart. I am passionate about the fight against the destruction of our environment, the wilderness and the animals within it. Hot Key's understanding, commitment and enthusiasm have made them the perfect home for my book.’
The Boy with the Tiger's Heart will be published in autumn 2014 for ages 12-plus.
Coggin is a writer and gardener who studied mime in Paris and Czechsolvakia. She has also worked in theatre and was a presenter for Thames television. Her poetry collection Dogs Days was published by Zero Books in 2011.
