Hodder & Stoughton has bought world rights to a début crime series written by the c.e.o. of an iPhone game development studio.
Francesca Best bought rights from Eve White to three books by Fergus McNeill. The first book, Eye Contact, will be published in 2013. It is about a serial killer who kills victims at random, based on the first person to catch his eye. The narrative is split between the killer and the series policeman, Detective Inspector Harland.
Best said: "We're delighted to be publishing this debut author. Eye Contact is a brilliantly chilling read that will be enjoyed by fans of Peter James or Peter Robinson, and presents an interesting take on the usual police procedural. I can't wait to see where Fergus McNeill takes the series over the course of the next two books."
