Hodder acquires new Lindsey Davis series
15.08.12 | Charlotte Williams
Hodder & Stoughton and St Martin's Press have acquired a new Roman crime series from Lindsey Davis, which will feature Flavia Albia, the adopted daughter of her most well-known character, Marcus Didius Falco.
The first book, The Ides of April, will be published by Hodder in the UK on 11th April 2013, and in the US by Saint Martin's Press in June 2013.
The series will take in the reign of Emperor Domitian, starting with real historical events—mysterious poisonings, in which victims died, often unaware they had been attacked. Albia is 28 years old at the start of the series, and an established investigator.
Hodder publisher Oliver Johnson said: "I'm so pleased that Lindsey has decided to continue the story of the Didius clan through the eyes of this feisty, remarkable and independent woman. Fans of the Falco books will be guaranteed a wonderful experience rediscovering the byways of a Rome lost to time but not to Lindsey’s pen.
"Everything is so vividly alive: the romance, danger and suspense are all palpable and The Ides of April is a thrilling read."
