HMV Group shareholders are meeting today (23rd June) to formally approve Waterstone's takeover by Alexander Mamut.
The vote will be the last stumbling block before Waterstone's becomes a standalone business. The Russian billionaire has appointed James Daunt as the retailer's managing director.
Arden Partners' Nick Bubb described the vote as a "formality" before Mamut's A&NN Group takes control. He said: "Nobody in their right mind would vote against a deal which the banks have made conditional on their continued financial support for the business."
HMV Group is due to post its results for the 2010/11 financial year next Thursday.
