Headline has acquired two books by debut author, and Faber Academy Novel Writing Course graduate, Colette McBeth.
Publishing director for fiction Imogen Taylor bought world rights in the two novels on a significant pre-empt from Nicola Barr at Greene & Heaton.
The first novel, Precious Thing, is described by Taylor as: "One of those books that you just can't put down-and even better, you never quite know which character to trust, even at the last. It's incredibly accomplished; utterly compelling, menacing, chilling yet credible and realistic, too. Any fan of Gone Girl or Beautiful Malice will love this book."
McBeth was a BBC news correspondent and graduated from the Faber course in 2011. Foreign rights are being handled by Joanna Kaliszewska and Jason Bartholomew.
