Headline has acquired a non-fiction title by Professor Jon Butterworth, head of Physics and Astronomy at University College London.
Publisher Simon Thorogood bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Diane Banks at Diane Banks Associates. The book will explain the work going on at CERN, the international laboratory in Geneva, where scientists created the Large Hadron Collider to study particle collisions, conducting experiments to prove the existence of the Higgs boson particle.
Thorogood said: "There have been a number of books about the hunt for the Higgs, but Jon's is the first from an insider's point of view. It is also the first that has explained the physics in a way I can understand.
"This is the one book you need to read if you want to understand what happened at CERN and what it means for our understanding of the laws of nature."
