Headline has acquired British Commonwealth rights for the final two books in the All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness.
A marketing push is also planned to make the first in the series, A Discovery of Witches, the "must read of 2011".
Headline m.d. Jane Morpeth bought rights in the remaining two titles in the trilogy from Hal Fessenden, vice president and director of subsidiary rights at Viking US. Morpeth had bought UK rights to A Discovery of Witches at Frankfurt in 2009 and the book will be published in early February.
According to the publisher, A Discovery of Witches "conjures a world of breathtaking imagination, made up of witches, vampires, daemons and humans". A young woman discovers a book in the Bodleian library with strange magical powers, changing her perception of the world around her and enabling her to see the other species. Although it is forbidden, she falls in love with a vampire.
Morpeth said: "A Discovery of Witches is an extraordinary book and I am so thrilled to have the next two now confirmed, moving forward with this very talented author and unique, fantastic series."
Lucy Mustoe, Headline consumer director, said: "This is an incredibly exciting project that we will be promoting with an innovative, integrated marketing campaign, spanning all media channels."
Caitlin Raynor, head of publicity, said: "The author will be flying over from the States to build her UK profile and be involved with the publicity every step of the way, meeting readers, the media and retailers, with some key events, interviews and a big online campaign." Raynor added the campaign would be "designed to make this the must read of 2011".
