Headline has paid a six-figure sum for three books by Yorkshire writer and primary schoolteacher Andy Seed.
Non-fiction publisher Carly Cook pre-emptively acquired UK and Commonwealth rights for the books from Kate Shaw at the Viney Agency.
The first book will be entitled All Teachers Great and Small and is described as “a humorous, affectionate account of his first year teaching at Cragthwaite Primary School”. It will be published in autumn 2011.
Cook said: “Andy was shortlisted for the 'People's Author' competition on the Alan Titchmarsh Show last year and it's not hard to see why. I am delighted to have acquired such charming books from a brilliant writer. . .
"Headline is thrilled to show such commitment to Andy's long-term career.”
