Headline has acquired a debut literary suspense novel by Australian writer Poppy Gee. Publishing director Imogen Taylor bought world English rights from Julia Kenny at Markson Thoma, with Andrea Walker at Reagan Arthur Books, to the novel, Bay of Fires.
Set in a small Tasmanian coastal community, the society turns in on itself when the body of a young girl is washed up on the beach. Taylor said: "I loved it from the first. It has the wonderful descriptive writing of someone like Tim Winton, combined with the suspense of Tara French."
Headline, along with Reagan Arthur Books, part of Hachette Book Group USA, will publish in 2013.
