HCCB buys two from Willis
16.05.11 | Graeme Neill
HarperCollins Children's Books has bought two books from Silver Smarties Prize-winning author Jeanne Willis.
Editorial director Harriet Wilson bought world rights, including TV, film and merchandising, from Catherine Clake at Felicity Bryan Associates.
The first book in the Penguin Pandemonium series will be published in January 2012. The publisher said it is about a struggling zoo, whose keepers install a "Penguincam" to film Rory, a penguin who loves showing off. The covers of each book will be illustrated by Ed Vere.
Wilson said: "Following the success of Ian Whybrow's Meerkat Madness, I am thrilled to bring more side-splitting animal adventures to the young fiction list, and the very best talent to HarperCollins. Imbued with her sparkling wit, Jeanne's penguin protagonists are hilarious and I can't wait to see Ed Vere's cover!"
