HC to distribute Beijing travel guide
01.01.70 | Anna Richardson
HarperCollins is to distribute a travel book published by China's military, in time for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The People's Liberation Army Daily newspaper said that Travel Around China would be distributed in 25 languages by HC.
The travel book is published by Blue Sky Publishing House, which belongs to the People's Liberation Army Air Force. "Selling the copyright to the largest publisher in the world is part of the 'going global' strategy of the Blue Sky Publishing House," the newspaper said.
It quoted unidentified sources as saying HC would donate 2,000 copies of the English version of the book to the organisers of the Beijing Olympics in the hope it would be designated "an official travel guide for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games".
