HC acquires Steven Tyler memoir
12.04.11 | Graeme Neill
HarperCollins has bought world rights to the memoir of Aerosmith frontman and "American Idol" judge Steven Tyler.
HarperCollins publisher Belinda Budge bought world rights in conjunction with Harper US from Queen Literary Agency. The memoir, Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?, will be published on 3rd May.
Aerosmith is one the biggest-selling hard rock bands of all time, shifting 150m albums worldwide. However, Tyler's predilection for drugs and alcohol, along with the band's guitarist Joe Perry, was also part of the band's notoriety and lead to the pair being christened the Toxic Twins.
Tyler said: "I've been mythicized, Mick-icized, eulogized and fooligized, I've been Cole-Portered and farmer's-daughtered, I've been Led Zepped and 12-stepped. I'm a rhyming fool and so cool that me, Fritz the Cat, and Mohair Sam are the baddest cats that am.
"I have so many outrageous stories, too many, and I'm gonna tell 'em all. All the unexpurgated, brain-jangling tales of debauchery, sex and drugs, transcendence and chemical dependence you will ever want to hear.
"And this is not just my take, this is the unbridled truth, the in-your-face, up-close and prodigious tale of Steven Tyler straight from the horse's lips."
Budge added: "Uncensored, debauched and at many times laugh-out-loud funny, this is the long-awaited and jaw-droppingly honest memoir from a rock music legend."
