Haynes is expanding its original transport remit further and moving into manuals on fictional topics.
After a manual on Thomas the Tank Engine in October last year the publisher is to release the USS Enterprise Owners’ Workshop Manual on 25th October, followed by Wallace and Gromit Cracking Contraptions Manual, which is out next month.
Editor Derek Smith said: “We’ve had a lot of success with our manuals on classic historic aircraft, such as the Spitfire and the Lancaster, and also with our manual on Apollo 11. So we started looking for other iconic subjects to cover.”
He said the publisher was looking to expand from its original remit and has manuals on the “Titanic” and the Space Shuttle in the pipeline. He said there would also be pig and beekeeping to follow on from its chicken manual which it published in February.
The USS Enterprise Owners’ Workshop Manual is the first full-colour technical manual for the spaceship from “Star Trek” and will cover seven incarnations of the iconic starship. The title is authorised and Michael Okuda, who spent 20 years working on the “Star Trek” TV series and films, served as technical consultant on the title.
Smith said: “The Enterprise Manual will appeal to ‘Star Trek’ fans of all ages. In typical Haynes style, the manual is written in very down-to-earth language and all the artwork in the book is brand new, and commissioned specially for the book.”
The title will be published as a hardback and priced £19.99.
