Gallic Books has launched an online game and competition to promote its novel The President's Hat by Antoine Laurain.
Working with publishing consultancy whitefox, Gallic Books has created a microsite for the book, the-presidents-hat.com, which features the game, a competition to win a trip to Paris, extracts and an author interview. The publisher is also using social media with #findthehat.
Today (28th March), people wearing a variety of hats converged at London's Liverpool Street and King's Cross stations to hand our fliers asking: "Have you seen the President's hat?"
Gallic Books m.d. Jane Aitken secured rights to translate and publish the book in English, with the novel released today. Set in 1980s Paris, it revolves around a mysterious power found in a hat owned by President Mitterrand.
Aitken said: "Everyone at Gallic fell in love with The President's Hat, and we're pleased that the marketing campaign has captured the book's delightful spirit."
