Harvill Secker acquires new Mankell
18.07.12 | Charlotte Williams
Harvill Secker has acquired the new novel by Henning Mankell, a historical thriller entitled A Treacherous Paradise.
Publishing director Liz Foley bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Anneli Høier at Leonhardt and Høier. Translated by Laurie Thompson, the novel will be published in hardback and e-book format in June 2013.
The plot is based on the true story of a Swedish woman who travelled to Mozambique in 1904 and ended up running a famous brothel there.
Foley said: "As ever, in A Treacherous Paradise, Henning manages to look deep into the heart of human nature within the framework of a compelling and addictive narrative."
