Henry Steadman has been appointed as art director for HarperFiction.
Steadman, who has previously worked for Pan Macmillan, Hodder and Transworld, has been working for HarperFiction two days a week for the past year, as maternity cover for Alice Moore. His appointment follows Moore's decision not to return to full-time work.
Jackets that Steadman has designed include Mark Haddon's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, and cover styles for Dan Brown, Bill Bryson, Lee Child and Joanna Trollope.
Steadman, who will report to associate publisher Roger Cazalet, said that the HarperFiction team "feels like family".
Cazalet said: "With his vision, energy, enthusiasm and clear passion for design, Henry has won over everyone he’s worked with at HarperCollins in the last year. I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to lure Henry out of freelance and back to an office. He has been a huge asset, helping our wonderful design team creatively and conjuring new looks for a range of authors. He is also a professional photographer and has brought new thinking to our photographic jackets."
