HarperCollins buys Paul Merson memoir
04.02.11 | Graeme Neill
HarperSport has bought a book by former Arsenal footballer Paul Merson.
The publisher bought world rights directly from the author to How Not to be a Professional Footballer. The title will be published on 31st March.
Merson played for Arsenal, Middlesbrough, Aston Villa and Portsmouth during his career, winning two League Championships, the FA Cup, the League Cup and a European Cup-Winner’s Cup with Arsenal. However, during his career he also struggled with gambling, alcohol and drug addiction.
The publisher said: “The story will delight and entertain with a treasure chest of terrific anecdotes from a man who has never lost his love of football and his inimitable joie de vivre through a 25-year association with the beautiful game.” Merson is a regular pundit on Sky’s football coverage.
