Harlequin Mira has signed two novels from debut author Phaedra Patrick.
Sammia Hamer at Mira signed UK and Commonwealth rights for two books in a deal with Clare Wallace at the Darley Anderson Agency.
The first book, The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper, follows 69-old Arthur Pepper, who discovers a mysterious charm bracelet when going through his deceased wife's possessions. The find takes him on a journey through London, Paris and India as he learns more about his wife's secret past.
Hamer said: "‘This novel grabbed me from the first chapter - with its assured simplicity and poignant tone, it was something I just had to have for the Mira list."
Rights have already been sold in Italy, Brazil, Sweden, Germany and North America. Mira will publish in hardback in January 2016, with a paperback following in the summer.
