Haddon's Boom! serialised via new DFB site
26.08.09 | Caroline Horn
David Fickling Books, an imprint of Random House Children's Books, has begun to serialise Mark Haddon’s new title Boom! on its relaunched website using the RH widget.
Ros Lawler, head of e-commerce for Random House, said: "This is the first time we've used [the widget] to serialise a whole book and younger readers will be able to share it with their friends and add it to their own websites. Our goal is to spread Boom! as far and wide across the internet as possible."
DFB is also offering copies of Once Upon a Time in the North by Philip Pullman to the first people who sign up to receive DFB online updates.
Fickling said: “We want the website to be a developing story that allows us to introduce surprising things and eventually develops its own character. We will use the internet to spread the word about storytellers such as John Dickinson and Siobhan Dowd.”
Authors are being invited to introduce their own copy and young people will be able to send their own stories and receive peer reviews. Librarians and teachers are also seen as key audiences for the website.
