Hachette Livre drops 2,000 e-book prices
04.05.12 | Barbara Casassus
Hachette Livre has today (4th May) reduced the retail prices of e-books to the level of the paperback equivalents of about 2,000 literary titles published in hardback.
Until now, the prices of all the group's e-books have been 20% to 25% lower than for the hardback equivalents.
The decision is a new stage in the development of the group's digital offerings and aims to "respond to the growing demand from users of electronic reading devices", France's largest publisher said in a statement.
The group continues to use the agency model for selling its e-books in Europe, even though this model is under fire from the authorities in the United States and the European Commission in Brussels.
