Guinness World Records will next week launch a pop culture annual, featuring information about films, apps, YouTube and games.
Guinness World Records 2016: Blockbusters! is aimed at children aged 8-12 and will hit the shelves on 10th March in paperback, priced at £9.99.
The annual will reveal records behind the biggest names in pop culture, including Star Wars, One Direction, Frozen, Minions, SpongeBob SquarePants, Minecraft, Lego and Guitar Hero, and will suggest challenges that the reader can try at home.
Jenny Heller, vice president of publishing, said: “Guinness World Records celebrates superlative achievements in all its forms, and over recent years we’ve seen an increase in records that recognise the best in pop-culture, reflecting the world around us. We felt it was the perfect time to showcase these record categories together.”
The launch will be supported with an marketing and social media campaign, including on a dedicated website, which includes activities such as polls and quizzes.
The Guinness World Records annual, now in its 61st year, has achieved sales of 134m copies in over 20 languages, according to the publisher. A dedicated Youtube channel receives more than 300 million views per year and the global website has more than 14 million viewers annually.
