Guiliano to Transworld
12.06.12 | Katie Allen
Transworld has acquired the new title by the author of French Women Don't Get Fat, Mireille Guiliano.
French Women Don't Get Facelifts will be published by Doubleday in early 2014. Transworld publishing director Susanna Wadeson bought UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, in the title from Louise Quayle at the Robbins Office.
The title will look at the topic of ageing and how women of 40 and beyond can "attack" the upcoming decades, from skin care secrets to relationship advice. According to the publisher, the title will be "partly cajoling, partly prescriptive, brilliantly researched and drawing on personal anecdotes".
Wadeson said: "Mireille’s French Women Don’t Get Fat was one of those brilliant genre-busting books that spawned a host of imitations, some great, but this is its natural successor and a book that both personally and professionally I can’t wait to have! It is a huge honour and very exciting that Mireille is joining Doubleday."
Guiliano said: "If women the world over can look in the mirror realistically and then make some shrewd mental and physical adjustments, they can make the most of the pleasures of the second half of their lives."
According to the publisher, French Women Don't Get Fat has sold over 2 million copies worldwide and was published in 37 languages. It was published by Vintage.
