Guardian to sponsor Edinburgh Book Festival
08.06.11 | Charlotte Williams
The Edinburgh International Book Festival is to be sponsored by Guardian News & Media, in a newly-penned two-year deal.
The sponsorship deal will include coverage in the Guardian, the Observer and its books website of the festival, with audiences able to review books and discuss events online.
The festival runs from 13th to 29th August, with speakers to be confirmed on 16th June. Authors at last year's event included Philip Pullman, Fay Weldon and Alexander McCall Smith.
Edinburgh International Book Festival director Nick Barley said: "We are very excited to be working with the team at Guardian News & Media and are looking forward to extending our reach and introducing our programme to a new audience around the UK and around the world. This partnership will open up new avenues for authors and new outlets for the debate and discussion, which is the life blood of the Book Festival."
The Festival's previous media partner was the Times. Both Guardian News & Media and the festival declined to comment on the value of the deal.
