Granta Books commissioning editor Michal Shavit has signed two new deals for books to be published in Spring 2011.
In a pre-emptive deal, Shavit acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to two new titles by Chris Adrian from Cecile Barendsma at Janklow & Nesbit. The Great Night is a novel, which retells Shakespeare's Midsummer Night’s Dream. The second book in the deal is A Better Angel, which is a collection of short stories. Both will be published in spring 2011.
Shavit has also acquired UK & Commonwealth rights to a book on Extinction from Jessica Woollard at The Marsh Agency. The book by Mel Challenger will look at the social and anthropological importance of our species' response to extinction, ruin and decay. The title will be published in spring 2011.
