Academic retailer Blackwell has appointed Trevor Goul-Wheeker as its new chairman. Goul-Wheeker joined the Blackwell board in September 2009 and takes over from John Hubert, who has been appointed deputy chairman.
He said: "I am truly honoured that Toby Blackwell and the Board have asked me to become chairman of Blackwell, a bookselling company with both a tremendous heritage and an exciting future.
"My first nine months confirmed that the company has a first class management team lead by Andrew Hutchings and outstanding people throughout the bookshops and library supply operation.
"I would like to thank John for his direction and resolve over the past few years, in particular for last year’s sale of the Blackwell library supply business in USA and Australia and am delighted he is staying on as deputy chairman."
Goul-Wheeker was previously m.d of Hammicks Bookshops, a non-executive director for WH Smiths Retail and a director of the Booksellers Association.
