Surrey-based Genesis Publications, which specialises in signed, limited edition books and photographic prints, is producing a more affordable printing of Led Zeppelin star Jimmy Page’s official photographic autobiography.
The book, Jimmy Page, was originally released in spring 2010 as a £445 limited edition, with only 2,500 copies available worldwide. It became the fastest-selling book in Genesis Publications’ 40-year history.
It will now be republished as a £40 hardback, out in October.
The book contains over 600 photographs chosen by Page, along with accompanying text written by him. Delving into Page’s personal archives, the book contains unseen photographs, memorabilia and every one of his passports. Page arranged the content into its narrative order and oversaw the design of his book.
He explained: “It was important to include every milestone along the way, so people who were fans of the music have got a real testament of the times. The tour schedules, passport stamps, working visas and memorabilia really make up a complete picture, which just keeps unfolding as you turn each page of the book.”
The book also showcases images taken by many rock photographers, including Ross Halfin, Kate Simon and Jim Marshall. The cover photograph is a 1977 passport photo, shot by Neal Preston on board Led Zeppelin’s private tour plane.
Jimmy Page will be distributed in the UK by Perseus Books.
