Children's writers can access an audience of thousands of travellers with a new campaign run by Gatwick Airport. Aspiring authors are being asked to submit unpublished works to become short audiobooks, which can be downloaded by children travelling through the airport.
Gatwick is using the website Soundcloud to upload audiobooks between five and 30 minutes in length, which can be accessed by families in the airport during the summer holidays.
They have already made available a selection of classic children's fairytales, and are now looking for original pieces that could reach an audience of tens of thousands of travellers every day. One new story will be selected, recorded and uploaded each week until September.
Each story will also be promoted by the airport's social media team.
Budding authors can send their stories to creative.thinking@gatwickairport.com, and should specify one of four age ranges they are aimed at: four to seven, seven to nine, nine to 12, and 13+.
