">The Bookseller's Christmas survey of independent bookshops found that most indies had a positive Christmas despite the wider high street malaise. In the period from the 1st to 25th December the four Foyles' shop reported a like-for-like sales increase of 18.9%.
Sam Husain, chief executive of Foyles, said: "We are delighted that all four shops performed so well at Christmas, particularly in a difficult retail climate. It is equally pleasing to see so many of our bestsellers selling so strongly at full price. I’d like to thank our booksellers for all their hard work and achievements and look forward to a very successful 2010."
