Foyles has launched a new way to connect its bricks and mortar customers to its website, directing customers to extra content online such as author interviews, blogs and podcasts through a portal called enCounter Culture.
Books on shelves in Foyles stores will directly link back to content online through a triangular tag and icon which contain a QR code instore, which link to the Foyles website.
A Foyles spokesperson said: “A major feature of enCounter Culture will also be to highlight new writers - not only debut novelists but also new non-fiction writers, authors translated into English for the first time, writers with ground-breaking new ideas, and established writers experimenting with new forms.”
A monthly enCounter Culture newsletter and instore promotions will highlight new writers, with January featuring The Twelve Tribes of Hattie by Ayana Mathis and Alejandro Zambra’s Ways of Going Home, the first novel of Zambra’s to be published in Britain. The newsletter will also contain details of upcoming Foyles events.
