Foyles to close One New Change store
05.10.11 | Lisa Campbell
Foyles will close its One New Change branch when its lease expires in April 2012 to "free up resources" for its forthcoming Stratford branch and recently opened Bristol shop.
The booksellers at Foyles One New Change will be redeployed within the company. Rebecca Hart, formerly a buyer for Royal Festival Hall and St Pancras branches, will now become the manager of the new Foyles Stratford shop.
Foyles’ c.e.o. Sam Husain said: “Our temporary shop at One New Change has been an incredible learning experience. We knew that 1,300 sq. ft. would not be big enough to do justice to our range and we therefore only committed to a short-term lease, expiring in April next year. Our newest shop in Westfield Stratford City is a much larger space which will allow us to play on our strengths of range and expertise.”
The One New Change branch opened in October last year.

Knew it! City boys and girls don't read and spend their enormous bonuses on fashion and drink! Move on Foyles!
Not true, or how do you explain Books etc's extraordinary success in the City, before Borders ran them into the ground?
City boys & girls do, however, tend to have PCs with internet connections....
Closure more to do with Daunt Books opening a shop nearby in Cheapside. How many other 'temporary shops', does Foyles have?
The Bristol shop is lovely but I honestly don't see how it can be making any money. I've been a few times and it's like Morrisey's stag night in there.
Waterstone's already have a very large branch in Broadmead and it's not even a particularly bookish place. Foyles should have set up in Clifton to soak up all the trade that Borders left behind, they would have made a killing.
