Fourth Estate to publish "Glee" star

Fourth Estate has acquired the memoir of "Glee" star Jane Lynch, who plays the "one-liner powerhouse coach" Sue Sylvester in the smash-hit show.

Editorial director Clare Reihill acquired UK and Commonwealth sight excluding Canada to Happy Accidents from Eugenie Furniss at WME.

The title, to be published in September this year, will look at Lynch's career including her part in comedy troupe The Second City, her film roles including in Christopher Guest's "Best in Show" and Judd Apatow's "The 40-Year-Old Virgin", her role in TV hit "Glee" and her problems with alcohol and coming out as a lesbian.

Lynch said: "If I could go back in time and have a conversation with my 18-year-old self, the first thing I’d say is, ‘Lose the perm.’ Second, I would say, ‘Relax. Really—just relax. Don’t sweat it.’ . . .

"Having finally reached a happy place—a happy accidents place—I want to share my story with others, to let them know things aren’t as bad as they fear."

Reihill said: "I can’t imagine a funnier author, or a wittier, warmer book to publish than Happy Accidents. Jane Lynch is one those rare actresses who manages to get into people’s hearts while at the same time being utterly caustic and irreverent. She is a force to be reckoned with and has a wonderful story to tell in her own much loved wry voice."
