Hebden Bridge-based independent Bluemoose has done its first foreign rights deals, selling three novels to Russia.
Michael Stewart’s 2011 novel King Crow, the story of a bullied schoolboy, and winner of the Guardian’s “Not the Booker” readers’ recommendation competition, will be published by the house owned by Alexander Mamut, Azbook-Atticus in St Petersburg. Azbook-Atticus has also bought Russian rights to Mark Radcliffe’s debut comedy, Gabriel’s Angel.
Meanwhile Anna Chilvers’ Falling Through Clouds, published in 2010, a story involved journalists kidnapped in Iraq, will be published by Centerpolygraph in Moscow.
