02.05.12 | Caroline Horn
Egmont has appointed Melissa Fairley as publishing director for its Picture Books and Gift list.
Fairley was previously publishing director for Ticktock Books, publisher for Kingfisher, and managing editor for HarperCollins Children’s Books. She will join Egmont on 8th May and replaces Lara Hancock, who is now with Simon & Schuster. The division currently publishes around 10 picturebooks a year,
Cally Poplak, Egmont Press m.d., said: “Melissa’s creativity, child focus and publishing vision make her the ideal person to grow in print and digital our Picture Book and Gift list, which is home to household names like Winnie-the-Pooh and Tintin and hugely popular illustrators like Lydia Monks, Kristina Stephenson and Jan Fearnley."
Fairley said: “I’m delighted to be joining the Egmont team and I look forward to working closely with their wonderful authors and illustrators. I’m also keen to bring new contributors to the list and to grow the picture book and gift business internationally.’
