01.01.70 | Katie Allen
Random House imprint W H Allen has acquired a book by Facebook's chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg, to encourage women to pursue leadership roles.
Ebury m.d. Fiona MacIntyre and W H Allen publishing director bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Simon Trewin at WME in Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead to be published on 12th March 2013, both in the UK and through Alfred A Knopf in the US. E-book and audiobook editions will also come out on the same day.
Rights are currently being sold in Germany, Italy, Brazil, Holland, Denmark, Israel and Russia by WME, Sandberg's agency.
In the book, Sandberg offers her insights on women, work, family and ambition, and talks about her own personal and professional experiences, addressing the conflicts she has encountered and mistakes she has made along the way.
Faulkner said: "Her message is vital and immediate and her book is an engaging, inspiring and deeply personal take on female leadership in the modern world."
MacIntyre described it as "a call to arms that will mobilise a generation of women".
