Face-swap competition for Templar trilogy
29.08.12 | Benedicte Page
Templar is launching Sweet Venom, a young adult trilogy by Tera Lynn Childs, with a reader competition which will give fans the chance to see how their face would look on the cover.
The trilogy, out on 3rd September, tells the story of three demon-slaying sisters living in modern San Francisco. Fans will be invited to email a picture of themselves which will be superimposed on the cover artwork and posted on Templar's Facebook wall.
The author will pick her favourite from among the two entries with the most "likes", with the winner featuring on the inside cover of the final instalment of the trilogy, Sweet Legacy, published in September 2013.
The campaign will be supported by Shout magazine, which will promote it via Facebook and Twitter.
Templar marketing manager Jessica Dean said the author "has a really active social network and so connecting with her fans in this way seems a natural thing to do. We're obviously hoping to raise awareness of the book and drive UK sales—but via a platform that Tera's fans will understand and hopefully really enjoy."
The author herself said: "I'm totally up for connecting with new and existing young readers, especially if it's fun and innovative."
